My friend Michael just turned 60. He's a spry ol' guy and an incredible artist. This image of him is a very serious side. I liked the strength in it and decided to paint his caricature and deliver him a print for his birthday!

O.K. I'm Michael Spooner and where is my adorable smile? I have to say that this exquisite drawing by my dear friend John McDavitt certainly captures me more than I would like to admit. Of course that's the nature of a successful caricature. Something like a dagger in the gut. People have always said that when I'm not smiling I look as though I'm unfriendly. Well, there you go.
